Invoice problems: can't edit, delete, email or void

Why GodoERP blocks certain invoice actions and what to do instead.

Updated Oct 28, 2026

"Only draft invoices can be edited"

Once an invoice is issued, it is locked so your BIR invoice numbers stay in sequence. To change something, void the invoice and create a new one. See Void an invoice the right way.

"Issued invoices can never be deleted"

Deleting would leave a gap in the numbers. Only drafts can be deleted. For anything issued, void it.

"This invoice has already been issued"

You tried to issue it twice. Open it from the invoice list to see its status.

"Issue this invoice before emailing it"

Emailing needs an issued invoice. Issue it first, then use Email. If the email still fails, see Emails aren't sending.

"This invoice has already been paid"

You can't void a paid invoice directly. Either:

  1. Void the payment first, then void the invoice, or
  2. Issue a credit note for the amount. See Issue a credit note.

"This invoice can no longer be voided"

It was never issued, or a credit note already exists against it. A draft can simply be deleted.

"This invoice is already marked paid"

Payments can't be recorded on a fully paid invoice. Check its balance on the invoice page.

Dates and periods

If a date is refused, see This date falls within a closed accounting period.

Tip: Fix typos before issuing. A draft can still be edited as much as you like.
