Payroll problems: locked days, approval and pay periods

Fix the common messages when creating, approving, posting or editing around a payroll.

Updated Oct 28, 2026

"Only semi-monthly pay periods are supported"

GodoERP payroll runs twice a month. Monthly and weekly periods would give wrong contributions and tax, so they are refused. Create the two cutoffs for the month instead. See Run payroll, step by step.

"Payroll period already exists. Opening the existing period."

You tried to create the same cutoff again. It opens the one that is there.

"Only a computed payroll can be approved"

Run Compute first, then Approve. Recompute after you change anything.

"This payroll has no employee items to approve"

No employee was included. Check that your employees are active and fully set up. Run Data check.

"Attendance for … is locked: the payroll for … "

An approved or posted payroll locks the days it covers. To change attendance for that day, void that payroll first, correct the day, then compute and approve again.

A payslip or contribution looks wrong

  1. Open the employee and check pay rate, shift and government IDs.
  2. Check attendance and pending overtime. Pending overtime isn't paid until approved.
  3. Run Statutory re-check and Data check. See HR reports and data checks.

Payroll posted but I need to change it

Void the payroll. A reversing journal entry is posted and the period reopens for correction. Do this before disbursing. See Run payroll, step by step.

Payslip emails

Payslips can be emailed only after the payroll is posted, and only to employees who have an email on file. See Emails aren't sending.

Important: Check closing dates first. A closed period blocks payroll posting and payments. See This date falls within a closed accounting period.
