This date falls within a closed accounting period
Why a date, edit or void is refused, and how to correct it safely.
What the message says
"…falls within a closed accounting period. Reopen the period first if this needs to be corrected."
Your books are locked up to a closing date. Nothing can be added, changed or voided with a date inside that range. This protects reports and returns you have already filed.
Fix it
- Decide whether the correction really belongs in the closed period.
- If not: use a date in the open period instead.
- If yes: ask the person who closes your books to reopen it at Administration › Period Closing. Make the correction, then close the period again. See Close a period (lock your books).
Where it can appear
Invoices, bills, bill payments, expenses, other revenue, debit notes and payroll payments check the date, and other posting screens may too.
Related locks
- An issued invoice can't be edited or deleted. Void it instead. See Void an invoice the right way.
- An approved or posted payroll locks its attendance days. See Payroll problems.
Important: Reopening a period after you filed a BIR return can make your books differ from the filed return. Talk to your accountant first.
